Privacy Policy — Perfect Demo Screen Recorder
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Perfect Demo Screen Recorder (“the Extension”) records screen, audio, and page interaction data only while you are actively recording a demo, so that the Perfect Demo application can turn that recording into a narrated product demo.
What the Extension collects
The Extension collects the following only during an active recording session that you explicitly start:
- Screen video of the tab, window, or screen you select via the browser's native screen-picker.
- Audio from your microphone and/or system audio, if you enable it.
- Page interaction events on the page(s) you are recording: clicks, key presses, typed text, form field changes, scrolls, navigation, cursor movement, and visible UI changes (toasts, loading states). These are used to generate the demo storyboard and narration, so ordinary typed text (e.g. a search query or a form field you're demonstrating) is captured as-is unless it is filtered by the rules below.
- Page URLs and titles, stripped of query parameters and fragments (see below), so the pipeline can identify which page an action happened on.
The Extension does not collect anything when you are not recording.
What is explicitly excluded or redacted on-device
- Passwords, credentials, one-time codes, and payment details. Fields identified as sensitive (by input type,
autocomplete hint, or field name/id) have their values and individual keystrokes redacted on your device, before any data leaves the page. This on-device redaction is heuristic (based on field type/name and value shape), not a guarantee for every possible sensitive field — avoid recording pages with credentials in fields the Extension can't recognize as sensitive. - Values, form submissions, and toast/notification text that look like emails, card/account numbers, or SSN/OTP-like codes are redacted by pattern.
- URL query strings and hash fragments are stripped before capture — only the origin and path are recorded, never tokens or parameters that may appear in a URL.
- Console errors and network requests: only the fact that an error or request occurred (and its status/method) is recorded — the actual error message text and request/response bodies are never captured.
- Clipboard contents are never captured (only the fact that a copy/paste occurred).
Account information the Extension holds
When you sign in to Perfect Demo, the Extension stores the following on your device, in the browser's extension storage:
- Your Perfect Demo session token, so that a recording you make can be uploaded to your own account. It is never sent anywhere but Perfect Demo, and it is cleared when you sign out.
- Your account email address and name, used to show which account you are signed in as (the initials on the extension's icon). This is read from your Perfect Demo account — the Extension never collects it from the pages you visit.
- The maximum recording length your plan allows, and a short list of your recent recordings.
The Extension never captures passwords, and it stores no recorded content in extension storage.
How data is used and stored
- Recordings and event data are saved to your browser's Downloads folder and, when you are signed in, uploaded over HTTPS to Perfect Demo (
app.perfectdemo.ai) to produce your demo video. The Extension does not send data to any third party, and it cannot be pointed at any other server. - The Extension does not sell or share your data, does not use it for advertising, and does not use it for any purpose unrelated to producing your demo.
Permissions and why they are needed
tabs, scripting — inject the recorder into the tab(s) you choose to record.downloads — save the finished recording to your Downloads folder.storage — hold your session token, your account email/name (for the signed-in initials), your plan's recording-length limit, and your recent recordings list.notifications — tell you when a recording is saved, uploaded, or auto-stopped.alarms — keep the recorder alive for the length of a take, and stop it at your plan's limit.host_permissions (https://*/*) — capture interaction events on the site you choose to record (which can be any site, since it is your own product) and upload the result to Perfect Demo.
Your control
- Recording only happens when you start it and stops when you stop it.
- You can delete downloaded files at any time.
- Deleting a demo from your dashboard removes its video and interaction data. Signing out clears the session token from the Extension.
